An invitation to the road less travelled

Road less travelled

I am always awed by how things come together and at the appropriate time.

My decision to talk about the road less travelled in August was rather arbitrary. It’s my birthday month and choosing the more uncharted and less understood path, is something that has coloured many of my years thus far. So I thought I’d celebrate that somehow.

When I recalled the book I’d read over a decade ago, The Road Less Traveled, by M. Scott Peck, I came across such gems:

“Love always requires courage and involves risk.”

“Move out or grow in any dimension and pain as well as joy will be your reward. A full life will be full of pain.”

To proceed very far through the desert, you must be willing to meet existential suffering and work it through. In order to do this, the attitude toward pain has to change. This happens when we accept the fact that everything that happens to us has been designed for our spiritual growth.”

These reminders come at a time when I’m challenging myself to be bold and in a sense, bare.

What I mean is, I am trying to live my truest, and thus fullest life. To be fearless in ways large and small.

I know the pain of doing things differently and I am thankful for all the learning that has come with that. I’m even grateful for all the challenges! I have come out on the other side, confident of my ability to come out on the other side :).

When I continued to follow this tangent of quotes, I chanced upon this one by the unshrinking violet herself, Maya Angelou:

“A woman in harmony with her spirit is like a river flowing. She goes where she will without pretense and arrives at her destination prepared to be herself and only herself.”

So this post I’m writing has shaped out to be a little different from what I expected it would be. Nonetheless, the essence remains.

This August – and beyond – I’d like to invite you to follow where your heart leads, in whatever capacity you can manage, taking time to enjoy the journey and trying hard to not fixate on the outcome. And I will do the same.

There is magic waiting for us on the road!

This theme has inspired the contents of this month’s Sunshine Club. Stay tuned for the big reveal soon.
